I recently read Matt Haig’s Reasons to Stay Alive. I stumbled upon this book when I was flipping through the non-fiction section of the library, so I put myself on the waitlist. A few weeks later, I got the email saying that it was available, and I downloaded my copy.

I want to dive more into this book because there’s so much I want to say: about it, about myself, about depression and anxiety. But I know that will take time and energy and emotional labor that I’m not ready to expend yet. In lieu of that future blog post, I’d still like to put together my list of #reasonstostayalive, inspired by Haig’s hashtag. So here they are, in no particular order:

  • my dogs
  • learning new things
  • rainy days
  • rainbows
  • pinwheels
  • flowers
  • other people’s dogs
  • road trips
  • ice cream
  • driving with my music turned all the way up
  • birthdays
  • peach bellinis
  • roller coasters
  • sitting around a fire pit on summer nights
  • s’mores
  • beer
  • books I can’t put down
  • candles
  • fall colors
  • a fresh pot of coffee
  • corn mazes
  • phone calls with friends
  • laughing
  • cookie dough
  • sunsets
  • snow-covered trees
  • massages
  • red wine
  • Christmas lights
  • meditation
  • traveling to new places

What are your #reasonstostayalive? I know I’ve listed a bunch, but there are plenty more to choose from. :)
